Here history and region mingle and become one. Beaujeu is both the historic capital of the Beaujolais region and the capital of Beaujolais-Villages wine.Two strong reminders of its rich past remain: the church of Saint Nicolas and the Hôtel-Dieu.It is in Beaujeu that Beaujolais Nouveau gets its send off every year with the international Sarmentelles Festival.
